Birth: Nick was born on October 31, 1951 in Fairmont, West Virginia. A Halloween Birthday!
He became the 27th Head Coach of the Crimson Tide in 2007 signing an 8-year, $32 million contract which made him one of the highest paid football coaches at the time. Saban appeared on the cover of the September 2008 issue of Forbes magazine as "Sports' Most Powerful Coach".
Prior to coming to Alabama Nick Saban was the Head Coach of the NFL's Miami Dolphins from 2005-2006.
Saban was also the Head Coach of Toledo, Michigan State and LSU where he led the Tigers to a National Championship in 2003.
Previous to that, he was an NCAA Assistant Coach at Kent State, Syracuse, West Virginia, Ohio State, Navy and Michigan State. Saban was also an Assistant Coach in the NFL for the Houston Oilers and Cleveland Browns (under Bill Belichick).
Nick is married to Terry Saban and they have 2 children (Nicholas, Kristen). Saban graduated from Kent State University where he also played defensive back. |
Gene Chizik

Birth: Gene was born on December 28, 1961.
He became the Head Coach of Auburn after their disappointing 2008 season. Gene was the Head Coach of Iowa State during the 2007 - 2008 seasons going 5-19.
Prior to Iowa State Chizik was an Assistant Coach at Middle Tennessee State, Stephen F. Austin, Central Florida, Auburn and Texas. Chizik was the Defensive Coordinator of Auburn when they went 13-0 in 2004.
Gene graduated from the University of Florida in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in Education. He played linebacker for UF in 1981. He then went on to get his master's degree in guidance and counseling in 1991 from Clemson University.
Gene is married to Jonna Chizik. They have 2 daughters (identical twins) named Landry and Kennedy, and a son named Cally. |
